My full name is Claudia Angela Marie De Fazio. I am 22 years old and I was born July 10th 1987. I am half Italian and half French Canadian. I have no siblings however, being Italian I have a big family so I am never bored. There is always some event or family gathering going on! I speak, read, and write English, French and Italian fluently. I love the Italian language and I am constantly trying to perfect it. I also speak a little bit of Spanish as I took courses for many years throughout elementary and high school. Unfortunately, I have lost quite a bit of the language as I have stopped practicing. If I had to describe myself in a few words, I would say that I am caring, patient, I love to help people but I can also be stubborn at times!
Between school, work, and family I am quite busy however when I do have some spare time there are many things that I love to do! I love fashion (especially shoes), travelling, music, soccer and tennis. I’ve been playing soccer ever since I was 6 years old. I played for the Lachine soccer team and I also played on my high school soccer team. I don’t play on a team now because I am too busy, but I do like to play with my friends for fun. When I can, I do watch soccer on television; I am a huge Juve fan! I started playing tennis a few summers ago. I started to play simply because I always wanted to play as a little girl but never had the opportunity to. My friend has been giving me lessons and I absolutely love the sport. I also love spending time with my friends and family. I absolutely love them! I have the best family and friends who are there for me through thick and thin.
I also love to travel. One of my dreams is to travel the world as there are so many wonderful places to see and cultures to learn about. Thus far, I have been to several cities in Canada such as the typical Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec City, and as well as Gaspé, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. I have also travelled to several places in the United States such as New York, Miami and Boston. The most beautiful cities I have seen however have been in Europe. I travelled to London and Paris and as well as many, many cities in Italy. I have seen most of northern Italy and I have been to the south to see my family in Calabria. My absolute favourite city is indeed Rome. I think it is the most beautiful city as it is filled with so much history, exhilarating architecture and beauty. To this day, I have been three times and ever single time I am amazed at what I see. Every year, I try to go back to see my family in Calabria and I also try to see another country or city that I have never visited. This year, I plan on going to Lebanon with one of my best friend’s (who is Lebanese). I look forward to the experience of being in a totally different culture learning about it.
In 2007, I spent 6 months living in Genova, Italy to teach English as a second language. I decided to do so because the opportunity came along and it was something I always wanted to do. I taught English to children between the ages of 5 to 6 years old and 7 to 8 years old. I also gave private lessons to children of all ages and as well as adults. It was an extremely enriching experience and I do not regret it one bit. It allowed to be grow not only as an individual, but as well as an aspiring teacher. I was able to experience the classroom in Italy which is much more authoritative and examine the differences and teaching practices of two different cultures.
Once I have obtained my degree from McGill University, I plan to look for a teaching position. My dream is to work for the Lester B. Pearson School Board. I am not quite sure why, perhaps it is because I have always been at a LBPSB school and enjoyed my experience. However, I know that I will try my best to achieve this goal. I also hope to complete a masters (part-time) in the future. I would like to do my masters because I would like to eventually become a principal and coordinate my own school.
